This is a great bird sanctuary and Nature preserve. Very easy hike to the beach. Although they advise not to feed the chickatees, you will see a lot of people feeding them anyway. Great hike for kids as it's pretty flat and hard for them to roam anywhere. I highly recommend going early and you can catch deer or late in the afternoon and you can catch the sunset. Also, during peak summer season the longer part of the beach (after the 1 mile hike) is closed to due bird nesting and not wanting

Quiet and secluded. Not a lot of people. A bit remote to get to. Far from any conveniences. The rest rooms are far too probably a good ten minutes walk.

Love this place! We always see turkeys, birds, chipmunks, squirrels and sometimes frogs and turtles. The beach is peaceful and the trails are relaxing while getting a little cardio. There are things to see there, you will have to go to find out. Enjoy nature! The only reason I took one star away is the bathroom is pretty bad and not always open.

What a gem!! The birds were eating from our hands!! What an experience!!We saw chipmunks, wild turkeys, bunnies, and beavers too. The best was the trail leading to a beautiful beach. The water was calm, crystal clear and so peaceful.. Loved this place!! You pay for parking which is $4 or you can make a donation. There is a pay kiosk upon entering with all the details. There was plenty of parking.

What a gem of a place! Wildlife, beautiful trails and beach. It's a 3/4 mile hike down to the beach area and viewing post, but you might get accosted by various animals and birds on your walk. The birds will eat out of your hand if you have something good to feed them. We even saved a puffer fish from becoming lunch π
